Essay: "Celebrations"by Armando Nicholas Aleman
I am celebrating today because I am living in this present moment. I am aware of life. Being that we're human sometimes we tend to forget things especially when we take life for granted. Sometimes we think we're deserving of things we do not have, and take measures to try and apprehend. Like we're entitled to it or something. Not realizing, that every day we live is a gift from God. We ought to be celebrating, living our lives in celebration. This morning I woke up it seemed just like another ordinary day to me. And so that means that I took life for granted. I went to sleep last night not even realizing that tomorrow was not promised. It could have been my last. I failed to give God tahnks for all that he had done for me that particular day. Instead of rejoicing and celebrating my celebration of life, I became complacent. There it is again, I took life for granted. What is it going to take for me to arise to a higher way of life? What steps must I take? If this is a start, right now I am celebrating my celebration of life. Have you ever thought, I could be dead in my grave, but today I'm living? This deep inhalation of breath that I just took is cause for celebration. This means that I have this open door that I can go in and out of to talk to a power greater than myself, is cause for celebration. And when I speak to my higher power, he is pleased and he rewards me by listening to me and responding back to me in kind, is cause for celebration. My higher power is an awesome being who is concerned about me and has my best interest at heart: He warns me, he tells me not to trust in my own strength when tyrin to do things to alleviate the nagging problems in my life. He has made a way for me that's OH so much better. A higher way of living. If that is not cause of celebration, then what is? That problem in your life there is a remedy for it. You've been up all night worrying tossing and turning in yoru bed. Taking things for graned! If you believe, you shall receive. So where is your faith? Me and yo today let's celebrate our celebration of life. How can you do this? Just simply say, Go di tahnk you today. I apprecirate all the thigns I have which you have given to me as a figt of life. Here in prison there are a lot of things that I have to go without, things that I fool myself into believing that I need to make my quality of life so much better. I can't live my life without these things, so what must I do? How will I get this, how I get that? Just simply say with meaning and deep sincereity in your heart. Come on repeat it after me. Say, God I give it all up to you, this desire to want things beyond my power and control tog et for myself. I praise you today in celebration of my life. Youa re the God o fmy life. You were the power that created me and you are worthy of all my praise. So tell me, my dear friend what are you doing that's cause for celebration? In this life that we're living we will encounter many opportunities to hose a moment of celebration. Although bad things do happen to good peop,e even to us individually but it's up to us. It's our choice how we choose to respond. TO me, the opposite of celebration, is living one's life in misery. Don't let life get you down but instead, overcome life in victory and celebration. And so for now I'll leave you, celebrating. This picture I drew was for the upcoming theme topic. This is one celebration. As you may or may not know, once a yaer my home town has a big celebration downtown in San Antonio, Texas. It's called Night In Old San Antonio, the whole city is involved in the celebrations. Everyone is off on that day or days. It lasts about three days, there are bands, dancing, all kinds of foods to eat, things to buy memorabilia, all kinds of music, a carnival drinks a whole lot of fun. There's also some parades to watch. It all occurs around Spring Time. It's a wonderful time for everyone to be with there families and kids, and relatives that come for the celebration, at night they even fire firecrackers for everyone to see. I guess during this celebration it really makes me relax and enjoy life. One day you should come down with your family and enjoy the celebration. Everyone needs a break from work, pressure off work. So Gary if you're ever down in this neck of the woods, "so to speak" drop by and take part in the celebration in San Antonio, Texas.
