Essay: "Dinner Time"

by Joseph A. Parrish
Dinner-Time is my favorite time; but don't get me wrong; I like breakfast and lunch too. However, "Dinner-Time" is the matter at hand. At this present time I am incarcerated in this state penitentiary. In here we are served three square meals a day. Unfortunately, we do not get to pick and choose what we shall eat. Our menu for us prisoner's is made in Huntsville, TX. Basically our menu is the same from month to month. We just about can predict what we're going to eat from day to day. Even though, I am incarcerated, yet still, "Dinner-Time", is my favorite time.

In here we do not have much of a choice. We have to eat what is provided, or else we starve. There are some foods served here that can't even force me to eat because I will not eat it. I do not eat grits or oatmeal. July 1, 2008 is my possible release date. I'm going to really miss you guys I know that I can't even say I know you. All except Jonathan Hooper. He is the only one I know. Nevertheless, I am going to miss reading your theme writing articles. Maybe, I can still participate from the outside. I am finding it kind of hard to be patient. I am looking forward to dinner-time.

"Dinner-Time", is my favorite time. It sure would be nice to have a nice dinner of my choice. But here in prison that's not going to happen. All I can do for right now is wishful thinking. My choice of a favorite meal at dinner-time would be some country friend chicken, macaroni and cheese, candied yams. Now let's top it all off with a slab of pecan pie mixed in some Butter Brickle Ice Cream. "Dinner-Time", is my favorite time. You can call me greedy if you want, but I am going to be eating on a very regular basis. I'm thinking god now for delivering me from this god-awful place and putting me in a position to where I can enjoy a good dinner.
