Essay: "My Favorite Place"

by Edward Vargas
As you approach Old Town Square in the Czech Republic capital city of Prague via the cobblestone passageways you can feel the energies that put this modern day city together hundreds of years before in the time of magic, alchemy, and secret societies the footsteps continue to echo off the well traveled narrow alleys. The main attraction at Old Town Square is a astrological clock that tells time and advises on the astrological influence at the time it chimes hourly with a skeleton that entertains the crowds. Sidewalk cafes, street vendors and a myriad of people from different cultures and languages add to the unique sounds of the square surrounded by ancient baroque buildings with their peaked roofs and ornate architecture only enhance the magical experience of Old Town Square. Horse drawn carriages taxi people up and down the square a black smith continues to pound horseshoes by fires stroked by many a year. Opposite the astrological clock sets the statue of the famous philosopher Honza House. Like to climb the steps set with my back to the statue close my eyes and absorb the vibes accompanied by at least a dozen different languages, the sounds of the blacksmith pounding away, and the horses and carriages coming or going with their passengers as I open my eyes I am surrounded by enchanting baroque buildings that are at least 500 years old, hence my favorite place on earth is Old Town Square, Czech Republic.
