Essay: "Favorite Trip"by Joseph Alvin Parrish
My favorite trip is around God's throne, however sometimes I am reluctant to go there. Is that an oxymoron, or what. For those of you who do not believe that praying helps, please accept my word that, that's my favorite trip, my most favorite place that I like to go. It seems like every time I forsake that privilege things start to go wrong in my life. But I've also noticed that every time that I go there things and situations start to get so much better. Yes surely around God's throne is my most favorite trip. What makes that trip so special is that I can go there anytime I please. There is no limit of times that I can go, plus there are no special times that I am allowed to go. For you skeptics out there, there is someone greater than us on the other end. You may be in a bad spot right now not knowing where or who, you can turn to, but I let me tell you there is someone who has your best interest at heart, and what makes my trip oh so marvelous, and wonderful is that he is always yearning for me to come, even when I am reluctant to do so. Since being here in prison I've learned that my faith is the key tool that I am to always use. My brother's, my faith in operation, believing for him to hear and respond to my prayer is what makes his power so much plain to my eyes and heart. The only excuse I have for my reluctance is laziness. You might think that striving for God is easy, but it's not. It requires diligence and hard work. It's all about faith, and application, but it involves so much more. The reason I believe so many people are so reluctant is because they've learned that applying your faith is a continuous action 24/7. Yes it's hard work but that's only because you are relaying on your own strength to seek after god. Do you know how to let go and let God? Just go around God's throne, and pray to join in Jesus' name. Now there you go getting all skeptical on me, but please listen to me, Jesus is the answer for the world today. Above him there's no other, Jesus is the way. |
