Essay: "Neighbors"by Robert Hartley While growing up I knew all the neighbors and they knew me. It was open doors back then. I wish I could say the same thing now about the old neighborhood. I now have a different life and different types of neighbors. As a kid, you got along with each other, in prison you just try not to piss off your neighbor. Never know how they may be one day to the next. We try to act like we care for each other when we really don't, but not much choice when you have no choice in where you get to live. I used to hate neighbors just because of their skin. I grew up and learned how ignorant that is. So now, I learned it does not matter the skin color of my neighbor as long as they treat me with respect, I will give them respect. That's all neighbors need to do, everywhere.
