Essay: "Psychic Abilities"

by Illinois III Barconey
Power of Government and Restricted Freedom

I am a firm believer that every gift comes from above (a higher power). Psychic powers aren't any exception. Being blessed with the ability to reveal the unknown sphere of actions has been referred to as many names, starting with witchcraft to astronomy. Nevertheless, these abilities can have a devastating effect on the mentality of those who render its services.

If you have ever encountered a gathering with a psychic, it's an experience that you will remember as long as you live. Personally, my only contact with these individuals was once with a man who insisted on being referred to as a three-headed doctor. The instructions that he gave me proved accurate and improved my life.

Many of us have seen the Hollywood version of people with psychic abilities, using their gift(s) to track-down those who commit crimes. We are never shown, however, how much money they charge for these services. We are never made aware of the demands these psychics place on our lifestyles.

The first book I read in respect to people that psychic abilities was by Jeanne Dixon. If my memory serves me correctly, the title of the book was, Today, Yesterday and Forever. The information that amazed me the most was learning that she was the personal astrologist for the president (I always wondered if this astrologist was being paid with tax-payers' money).

I was curious to know if her abilities were utilized in assisting with the race for outer space. Mainly, which maybe considered classified material, I always wondered if individuals with psychic abilities could be useful in explaining the existence of U.F.O.'s. Maybe explaining the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle and the Great Pyramids would be a true test for these gifted individuals.

My first paragraph is my overall opinion of psychic abilities, especially the last sentence. Many individuals that possess the gift may get caught between two worlds: the power of government and restricted freedom.
