Essay: "Racial Profiling"by Tim Hampton I think everybody believes that racial profiling, whether its exposed or kept hidden; can be said directly or indirectly to a person. Body language, emblems or tags can be a profiling of a racial intent or suggestion toward a person. But racial profiling isn't always done to opposite or different races, color, or religion. There's also racial profiling in the same race, group, family, etc., that's done towards one another. By that, I mean, a person of those mentioned labels can happen if ones a half breed, or one that's in a higher position or a better doer than the next man. It starts off as hating or being mad, then tension, which leads to the racial thing. Race has always been the big / small issue, compared to whom one talks to: Racial profiling is not just done to the poor, uneducated or the ignorant. It's not done, said, or used by the incarcerated. There's presidents, movie stars, governments, sport stars, etc. All color, creed, race, and religions use it or display it, in one way or another. Maybe a racial statement, name or gesture was said, used, or done in a movie, book, role, script, speech, etc. Even though at the time the thing was said, it probably didn't mean to be racial or come out racial or have a racial effect, but it did effect someone and caused someone's blood to boil with vengeance and hatred for that person. Where do racial ideas come from? Some say it's implanted into people, from generation to generation. Others take up the "sport" to belong or want to feel and be a part of a crowd that's into the racial thing. Some people say or do it because they feel untouchable, because they have someone to get their backs. Those are cowards to me. For instance, whites, Mexicans, and a majority of the blacks, saying the "N" word means ignorance. But if they look up the word ignorance, people use the word and especially hear their definition of the word, I shake my head and say to myself, "A whole bunch of people are lost and think of that old wise saying, "A mind that's not properly used, is like a fish out of water ... it will succumb." I don't exclude myself on the racial profiling, but at the same time, I keep my racial profiling and tension to myself and towards those who use it and display it without care. But I do it indirectly in a sense. But I can also do and show it directly with anger and physically. But I don't. I carry myself meekly and I let my body language talk for me. So there's all kinds of racial profiling people; whether it's something people care to see or acknowledge it is one thing. But in the sense of reality and truth, it's there, and it's in many people and is going to always be there, directly or indirectly; until the end of time. Racial profiling is just like roaches. You can kill them or try to get ride of them, but you know, you will never get rid of them because there's so many of them.
