In general, society isn't willing to give second chances and their reasons and motives aren't so pure in this area. They justify their decisions by pointing to the increase in horrific crimes and crime in general. By not being willing to give second chances, society has lost faith in God's ability to renew, transform, and make new creatures out of the worst of us. Society is also unwilling to see the part it plays in the creation of the worst of us. We aren't born criminals, nor shall our parents take the blame, for society is quick to point the finger at them. In a lot of cases, wives, kids, and friends feel the same way as society. Mostly because they have been conditioned to think and feel that way. Giving a second chance doesn't mean that we criminals shouldn't be held accountable for our crimes, it means that once we have paid our debt to society that we be given the rights and privileges without being judged, condemned, or rejected, having to walk around with a scarlet letter. If for no other reason, than for the fact that we have paid the debt that society expected of us.

More important than society giving us second chances, we must give ourselves second chances. Most, if not all, of us have been programmed with negative information about ourselves. We must begin to change our thinking, learn to love ourselves, and develop an unshakable confidence that even with our failures, and learn that we are capable of the greatest good.

In closing, if you are not willing to give yourself a second chance, I would at least encourage you to give God a second chance. As long as you are living, he gives you as many chances as you need, he accepts you whoever you are, he offers you forgiveness, he promises never to forsake you, he changes you desires and thinking, and gives you the gift of the holy spirit to live within you. If you are ready for a second chance, and a changed life then give god a chance to give you a second chance! "Faith without work is dead being alone"
