The Simple Pleasures in life are generally the ones that are most often "overlooked" or something that is more likely taken "for granted."
For myself I feel the absence of these "simple pleasures" when I come to be incarcerated for my offenses. The Department of Corrections is established for the purpose of stripping an individual of his basic need of these pleasures, for me these pleasures consist of family, life, and liberty. I'm using this "trip" as an example of how I can be so cruel to myself. The constant struggle I'm facing on a daily basis and the demoralizing treatment I am subjected to, are prime examples of me neglecting to provide for myself these "simple pleasures." I've made all of my decisions solo, at no time was I forced to be a felon. But, I find myself in a revolving door, trapped without any assistance. I guess that's where the "taking it all for granted" comes in. So, here I stand, me, my cell, my books, hoping for a better future loaded with the pleasures I crave for.
