Essay: "Compassion"

Stevenson, Kano

Tragedy begets compassion. The very suffering and pain brought about due to some calamity or disaster is what ignites the flames of compassion. Compassion causes man to reach out to one another to ease discomfort, lighten loads, and offer solace, in hopes of producing at least a little joy and happiness. Compassion binds people together regardless of gender, religion or ethnicity. It also extends across states, continents and oceans. When you are at your lowest, the last thing you are concerned with is the color of the hand that is helping you. And a person with compassion doesn't care what you believe or what you look like; they genuinely just want to help.
