Essay: "Music"

by James Rowley
Recalling the Past

In today's world most people are told to move on and don't let the past get in your way. It is virtually impossible to forget about the past. The one main reason is because music exists and will exist forever. Music is a tone of pleasure that brings excitement, balance, memories, yes, memories of what we were doing when we first heard that song on the radio, or who we were with in a dance or a roller skating rink.

Music can identify your best times in life, your first love, such as "Keep on Loving You"- REO Speed wagon (1979-80). That's a song for a lot of first loves. Music can make you feel that the Lord is near, and music can make you sad, such as, "Wind Beneath my Wings" by Bette Midler, when someone passes on. Even when we must move on, music will always bring us sadness and joy that is good for us to experience all the days in our lives.
