Essay: "My Family"

by Douglas G. Berry, Jr.
Well, my family means so much to me. I have a sister now going to the University of Maryland. That's where my grandparents had gone, so my sister wanted to go there. She recently came back from Nice, France, going to the university there for French. She constantly writes and wished me well. My brother goes to Penn State. He doesn't write much. He's always on the computer. But I miss them all. I have another sister who's about to have twins. I'll be an uncle again for the third time and fourth time since it's twins. So that's pretty exciting. I wish I was there, but will be there in about seven years.

My parents write me as well. I don't get too much financial support because of my siblings' school bills, as you can imagine. I do, however, get some money around the holidays for boots or sneakers and some snacks from commissary. Anything is appreciated and I always express my many thanks to them. I feel bad that I'm not there to help out around the yard. They're big gardeners. There's always something to do or straighten out... wood to chop, greenhouse to attend to.

Before I got locked up, our project was fixing my dad's G4 Comet Caliente racecar. Now I get pictures of its slow progress. But all in all, I love my family and feel bad for my stupidity of breaking the law.
