Essay: "My Family"

by Clyde O. Pittman
My family is like most families. We were brought up with good morals. I believe that we all have had our share of struggles, but that is what makes us strong. We are well-rounded individuals. Growing up like most families, we have encountered some of life's unexpected turns on its never-ending road. That is where the structure of my family plays a large role.

My family's beliefs strengthen our dreams and enable us to contribute to the next generation. As a child, I was taught to work at a young age, which at the time seemed unfair. But now that I have aged, I have a good understanding of why they taught me these things. It helped prepare me for the world, as we were not rich with money value. But with love and compassion for each other, we always strive to be the best we can.

By applying ourselves to make the best from any situation that may come about, there is always someone waiting to help, give some good advice, or just lend a hand. With every day that passes, I wish that I could be with them. But they are always with me in memories and in my heart and prayers. I'm looking forward to joining them again, lending a hand, and giving some good advice when asked. This is my family -- strong, proud, and always trying to be the best they can.
