Essay: "Pride"by Rick Pearson Needed Pride
What is wrong with this world when we have such a high concentration of individuals who are so ashamed of who they are that they allow the forces that be to gnaw away their racial pride and self-respect? I've observed those of my own skin color who have become so guilt ridden and disillusioned as a result of the propaganda they absorb that they view those of us who do possess racial pride as being contemptible. I've always been proud of my race, of my culture, and of who I am as a person--nothing can or will ever change that. Unfortunately, it isn't nearly enough to profess our pride for our race, we have to do things to cultivate and improve it, to enrich it. You can't have all that much pride if you aren't interested in regeneration. This all begins with you as an individual though and several things can be done, not the least of which is to get a good education. Without a proper education you've got nothing and will be content to stumble through your sad lives with all of the other "sheep!" With it though...the possibilities are endless, and the only limitations you'll face are those that you've placed on yourself, which will ultimately contribute to the improvement of your race. Knowing your history is important also, for without the knowledge of where you come from and where you've been, you'll have no clue as to where you need to go. Only once you've begun to understand the sacrifices of your own will you begin to fully appreciate what it means to be proud of who you are. The development of an iron hard will is necessary as it provides us with the power to persevere. This allows us to not be dissuaded from achieving our goals and prevents us from being persuaded by others to stand for that which we don't truly believe. There are several things that you can do to ameliorate yourself and your race. What I've written is just a few things to actively think about. Being proud of what you are, who you are, and where you came from does not make you racist. So take a minute to have pride in yourself. |
