Essay: "Second Chance"

by Greg Alvarado
Are we entitled to have a second chance? Can our punishments be carried out on our first mistakes, or can we have a 2nd chance? When my heart gets broken for the first time, do I get a 2nd chance? When I choose the wrong road in life, can I have a second chance to make a u-turn and begin again? When I see tears come down my mother's eyes and seeing her pain, can I have a 2nd chance to take all that away? Can I have a 2nd chance to turn my downfalls into greatness? Can I turn all the drugs, gangs, guns, and hatred and have a 2nd chance to mold it to goodness, education, peace, and most of all love? Who do I ask for a 2nd chance, can I wish for it, or dream about it? Can someone tell me where to find this secret? But no one knows, it's been there all along, the day he paid the price in his own blood, he gave us the 2nd chance we need. So is there a 2nd chance, yes there is, who has it, "we all do!!" (Greg Alvarado)

The first time I did it
I made a mistake
Knowing it was wrong
But I fell asleep never awake
Now I bend my knee
And look to the sky
Seeing my life pass through
The windows of my eyes
Wait a minute I know
I made the wrong choice
But I can't see you
But I hear your voice
Please don't judge me
Of my past
Cause I need you
To be my compass
Guide me back
To where I can be forgiven
My eyes are blind
But my hear is you it's seeing
So please God play
The music so I can dance
I don't ask for much
But a second chance!
