Essay: "My Favorite Place"

I am 20 years old, and have been in prison since I was 17. Neither I nor anyone I know of would even consider this our favorite place. I grew up in Amarillo, Texas, and I consider my favorite place what myself and only a few friends refter to as the "Blair Witch Woods."

I consider this my favorite place for many reasons. I never really got along with my family and used every excuse and reason I could think of to get away from them. No matter what the reason someone could be looking for me they and everyone I know would tell you to go to the "Woods." I was always there and made it my own personal retreat. I've been kings, wizards and almost every other fictional character you can think of. I ruled the "Woods" as though it were my own domain.

I've done everything from my shot my first gun to lost my virginity in those "Woods." I got locked up on July 3rd with a major party that I had personally set up to be in my "Woods" for the following day.

I regret all the things I have done in my life including not having a good standing relationship with my family. I have now gotten a better relationship with my family, but the "Blair Witch Woods" along with the memories that go along with it will always be my favorite place in the world!
